If you are really a beginner or are contemplating roasting then this pamphlet (not much of a book at 50 large type pages) might whet your appetite but not much more than that.Having recently become a home roaster I expected a lot more from this book. Perhaps some technique, some additional insight etc. I was sorely disappointed.
The entire book is more like a pamphlet, totaling a total of 50 large type pages (i don't recall this being listed on the products information page). Had this been a normal font size you would have gotten it down to 25 pages tops. Of those 50 pages there is a total of 17 pages devoted to roasting and as other have stated, discussing a popcorn popper is one of them. This is something you can get off the web for free. Additionally the author encourages putting your coffee into the freezer for ten minutes as one of the methods of cooling down the roast after you remove it from the heat source (an integral part of controlling the roast process and depth). To be honest, I am not sure that I want any of the freezer smells involved with my coffee while its piping hot and absorbing odors. Anyway, as I mentioned, avoid this unless you are curious and clueless about the beans travels and what it looks like, (a few pages on that) about how to grind, and how to brew.
I rated it three stars because I felt bad as 2 and under is viewed as a negative. Its not a bad book (pamphlet) but hardly useful if you know more than the basics.

How I Roast Amazing Coffee At Home edition by Jessica CraneMunoz Benjamin Richards Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
This is one of the best books I bought in 2014! Step by step process like none other.
Happy New Year!
Simple and clearly described. Good technics and easy to follow. I anticipate some excellent tasting coffee. Looking forward to many cups.
I loved this book! Who knew you could roast coffee in a popcorn popper? In a pan? I thought an expensive roasters were required. I learned so much from this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves coffee or loves someone who loves coffee.
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it sounds. I am a coffee snob so right up my alley. I especially liked that the author mentioned a variety of ways and the advantages and disadvantages of each. First time since I became a coffee snob, about 35 years ago that roasting my own coffee sounds doable!
This humble book of few pages (and fewer photos) imparts all you need to know to roast coffee at home with a very small investment in equipment (less than $100.) I highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying their hand at roasting their own beans. After reading it I did wonder if this book was sponsored by either website mentioned as a place to buy beans??? (Sweet Maria's?) Regardless, it tells you all you need to know to get your feet (and mouth) wet. Heed the cautions about not roasting beans indoors!
My mother recently started trying to roast her own coffee in a frying pan on the stove. She had bought 50 pounds of green coffee beans and wanted to start using them up. She had some limited success without any guidance… but she burned a bunch of coffee as well. This book really helped. We bought her the popcorn popper recommended by the Sweet Maria's Coffee roasting website (sold here on ~West Bend 82416 Air Crazy 4 Quart Corn Popper), this book and a French Press coffee brewing system. She's been happily roasting and brewing coffee since she received the gift.
I just finished reading this book and I'm ready to get started! I think even I can do this! Thanks, Jessica, for the information on where to locate green beans, what to look for in beans, and for the wonderful explanation of the differences between bean varieties and levels of roasts. For the first time in my 65+ years I feel informed and able to make coffee choices based on facts rather than "Oh, shucks. I'll try this one this time!" Great book! Now I'm off to garage sales for popcorn poppers! And I'm exploring the links you provided to find some green coffee beans. My 1800s cast iron skillets just found a new purpose! I highly recommend this book as a gift for a coffee connoisseur, for someone who likes to do brag about doing everything themselves, and for the home chef who is always up to a new experience. I can't wait to give it a whirl!
